“Just thought I’d drop you line to say I am sitting with Miles Oscar (snoozy baby) on my chest 🙂 born at break neck speed on Friday morning at 9.20.

Went for my usual early morning pee at 4.50. Got back into bed and felt like maybe it was a bit more than a wee I needed. Asked Tim to come and join me, we have been sleeping in separate beds due to me recently snoring!! 😦

I was definitely having small contractions, not painful… Just like mild period pains low down, not like my Braxton hicks at all. Staying in bed calmly and excitedly doing balloon breathing with every surge until 7am knowing now I was finally on the way! Went to brush my teeth and was completely floored by the next contraction!

Called the midwife at 7am. Contractions were getting stronger, closer and progressively uncontrollable (but in a good way, just my body taking over, not scary at all!) I was feeling the need to bear down but they weren’t painful, totally manageable with breathing and grunting too!

At 8.20 we went off to Whipps Cross. Was extremely delighted and grateful to be met by the fabulous Jo Naylor at the entrance to Maternity Ward who whipped me straight into the delivery suite where I was immediately crowning and ready to pop him out. I did have to push but again this was not painful just a sensation! Totally manageable with gas and air and breathing 🙂

He popped out 9.20! Felt like a rock star once the head was out. I knew I’d done it 😉

Jo Naylor was a complete legend. She told me how excited she had been to see me as it was her first delivery in 3 years. She was totally thrilled as was I to have her there helping me, the care at Whipps was great.

Trust your body!! It will pay you dividends!
